Blueberry Mojito Cocktail Recipe

Who doesn’t love a mojito? 👌🏻 Serious question. I’ve had this Blueberry Mojito Cocktail Recipe post in my drafts for months now. Then I realized that TODAY is National Mojito Day (who makes up these holidays?! 😂) so I thought today was as good of a day as any to finally put this post out!

What do I love about mojitos? They go down easy. What do I hate about mojitos the next day? They go down easy 😂  LOL. Mojitos are the perfect summer drink. Super refreshing and light tasting – both things I want in a summer drink! Plus, once you add the berries, how can it get any better?!

When I’m at a nice restaurant that has a mojito on the menu, I can’t resist it. I have to order it! But as someone who’s worked in the restaurant industry, I know that mojitos are labor intensive (for a bartender that has an entire bar to take care of). So typically I feel out the situation and decide whether it’s a place I can order a mojito without feeling guilty 😂  Worst case scenario, they tell you they’re out of mint (I mean a classic restaurant lie but that’s a story for another day 😂….).

Making them at home is something you don’t have to feel even the slightest bit guilty for because you’re doing all the work (it’s not that much work, I promise!). Continue reading to get my Blueberry Mojito Cocktail Recipe!

Mojitos taste delicious with just about any berry you have on hand. For this recipe I used blueberries, but I also make blackberry, raspberry, and strawberry mojitos which are just as delicious! The raspberry is my least favorite of the berries for a mojito since I find it’s the sweetest and has lotssss of seeds. For the strawberry version, make sure you chop up the strawberries small. Larger pieces are harder to muddle and don’t muddle up as juicy!

You’ll want to make a mojito with a quality rum, but really, any white rum will do (I feel like I sound like Jack Sparrow lol). A few months ago I bought Bully Boy White Rum which is from a local distillery here in Boston and I really like it! I was looking to take it a step up from the usual and it did the trick!

Anyway, let’s get to the recipe!

Blueberry Mojito Cocktail Recipe

Recipe makes 2 mojitos

4 oz. of white rum (I used Bully Boy)
10-15 or so fresh mint leaves
1/4 cup of blueberries, plus extra for garnishing if desired
1 lime
2 teaspoons of simple syrup (I usually wing it – if you don’t have simple syrup, use Sprite instead of club soda!)
1-2 teaspoons of white sugar
Club Soda

Have two tall glasses on hand and set aside. In a cocktail shaker, add your mint leaves, the juice from 1/2 of a lime, your 1-2 teaspoons of white sugar, and your blueberries. Muddle with a spoon to incorporate the flavors of the mint and mash up your berries. Add ice to the top of your shaker. Add your rum and 2 teaspoons of simple syrup. Shake, shake, shake! Pour evenly between your two tall glasses. Next, add club soda to the brim of both glasses. If you don’t have simple syrup, I’ve used Sprite as as a switch for club soda and it’s delicious! Add a lime wedge to each and enjoy!

Note
: If you add your club soda to your shaker and shake, the club soda will become flat – you don’t want to shake it, which is why you add it after mixing up the other ingredients 🙌🏻
