In the past couple months, I’ve tried a haircare line (spoiler alert: Virtue Labs) that’s TOO good to not share with you guys. And I have this gut feeling like it’s going to majorly blow up in the next year!

Virtue Labs: The Haircare Line That's About to Blow Up

When I first started my new job a few months ago, my coworker told me about Virtue Labs which is a new haircare line that uses human keratin (don’t freak out, I’ll explain if you keep reading)! Anyways, I can’t exactly remember, I think my coworker had a friend working in PR for them, but anyways, a few of my coworkers and I were able to receive samples of the products and try them. I loved the products immediately, but then flash forward a month or so when I was getting my hair done (from Amanda at Joi Salon) and we got to talking about Virtue Labs and their amazing hair products! Amanda talked about how they had gone to a conference and been introduced to the products. Also, Joi Salon is the only salon in Massachusetts (at least last I heard about a month ago) to use and sell Virtue Labs haircare products. It seemed like such a coincidence that both myself and the salon I go to had both been introduced to this haircare line, and keep in mind this company is only a year old! This is what makes me think it’s going to blow up like crazy in the next year! I also just want to preface this post by saying this is 100% not sponsored… I did not receive money to promote this brand, I just think it’s amazing, their story absolutely fascinating, and I want you guys to know about it!

Virtue Labs: The Haircare Line That's About to Blow Up

Okay, that was a bit of a long winded rant but I just wanted to let you guys know how I was introduced to the products. Yes, I received tiny samples for free, but it had nothing to do with posting on the blog since I received them at my full time job. I can often be skeptical about beauty products because I try a lot that just aren’t worth the hype. These products never make the blog, because I prefer to keep this a super positive place and only share the products I 100% love! So since I’m sharing Virtue Labs’ hair products, you can rest assured that they’re 100% worth the money.

You’re probably wondering… What makes them so great? It’s okay, so was I before I tried them! There are so many things that make their products great, but the number one reason they’re amazing – their products contain human keratin! If you don’t know what keratin is, keratin is a protein that makes up hair, feathers, hooves, claws, horns, etc. Kinda gross if you really think about it right? For me, it grosses me out a bit when I think of it being in hooves haha, not so much when thinking about things like hair. This is such a big deal because in the past, all hair products containing keratin were coming from animals. AKA not vegan and depending on how strict you are about using products tested on animals, you could probably consider these types of products that use traditional animal keratin to fall in that category.

I won’t bore you with tons of tiny details but Virtue Labs’ story is pretty freaking amazing and worth sharing. Essentially what happened is Melissa Shaban (the founder / CEO of Virtue) met Lt. Col. Dr. Luke Burnett after 25+ years of working in the personal care industry. Luke’s team works at his lab “to advance regenerative medicine and help those who have sustained traumatic injuries on the battlefield.” It was then that they “developed a way of harvesting keratin in its purest, most powerful form – directly from human hair.” It was a this time that Melissa Shaban heard Luke Barnett’s discovery and was blown away by both the findings and the cause. This was the first time that the protein remained whole and it was also then that the test results showed amazing healing effects. This discovery led to Virtue Labs and Alpha Keratin 60kuTM. I’m all about products that are backed by science because it means they truly work!

My hair stylist Amanda and I got to talking about the products at my appointment and she was talking about how it coming from human hair is a HUGE game changer. She explained how when using keratin products derived from animals, our human hair can only absorb so much… because it recognizes it as foreign (AKA coming from animals not humans). When using Virtue Labs products, since the products contain keratin from humans, your hair recognizes it as its own and the keratin binds seamlessly to the hair.

If I haven’t yet convinced you that these products are simply amazing… here are some stats that show you what others think about the products and their results (source found here):

  • 67% saw a reduction in frizz
  • 138% saw an increase in color vibrancy
  • 95% split end reparation
  • 22% saw an increase in thickness

One of the best things about Virtue Labs’ website is that you can try their “Diagnostic Tool” which is 8 questions about your hair to determine which products would be best for you to use based on your hair and its needs. You can take the quiz here. The products I was recommended are the Smoothing Shampoo, Smoothing Conditioner, Perfect Ending Split End Serum, and the One For All 6-in-1 Styler.

So what have I tried and loved?

Perfect for medium to thick hair that’s hard to manage. Thick-haired ladies this will change your life! It de-frizzes and seals in moisture and shine.

Eliminates frizz with each use… I mean, can I get an amen? This conditioner soothes the hair cuticle and locks out humidity. It leaves hair vibrant and shiny.

This is a leave-in treatments cream that instantly transforms the texture of your hair. It eliminates frizz and locks out humidity. I love this cream, but I feel like if you’re going to go with this or the 6-in-1 styler, go for the 6-in-1 styler as it literally does it all!

This cream does it all you guys! Leaves hair shiny, moisturized, strengthens, polishes, and fights frizz. It also protects hair from heat. AKA all you need in a product!!

Have you tried any of Virtue Labs’ haircare products? I would love to know which ones you’ve tried in the comments! (You can read my other hair posts here)
