5 holy grail face masks to save skin

Although Spring is certainly on the horizon, it seems that Boston hasn’t quite received the memo yet. There’s been snow flurries one day, 60 degrees temperatures the next. With weather fluctuations brings irritable and finicky skin. Most of you guys probably know by now that as the seasons change, so should your skin regimen and products you use. I like to use more moisturizing products in the winter; Sometimes doubling up on moisturizer by using a cream and then a couple drops of a hydrating serum on top for dewy skin. I use lighter products in the spring and summer as my skin requires less hydration. Your number one priority should be that you’re using products catered to your skin type! I have the most sensitive, combination skin that always lets me know if I’m consuming too much sugar or not drinking enough water through you guessed it… breakouts! Unfortunately, I have always had to work really hard to get good skin. The time of year in between seasons can often be the time that our skin is behaving the worst. One of my guilty pleasures and a way to get your skin back in check is to use face masks once or twice a week. I like to use them on Sundays as a relaxing way to get ready for the week ahead, and then I usually pick a day during the middle of the week as part of my night-time regimen. The face masks I have linked are my absolute favorite, holy grail, buy time and time again face masks! The one I use depends on what I feel like my skin is going through at that time.
When Snow Magic Face Mask

1. When Snow Magic

For brightening. If you feel that your skin is dull, tired, and is just overall lacking that bright, fresh look that we all so desperately covet, this is perfect for you. I discovered the brand When on Sephora’s website while searching for products. I like to search for products on Sephora by “top rated” so that I can see which products others are loving before I buy something. This mask immediately jumped out at me as being a favorite of so many people and at only $7.00, feels like a complete steal! When’s face masks are unique because they don’t feel like a typical sheet mask on your skin. Instead of being a paper mask, they are all gel and jelly-like, which allows them to completely bind closely to the skin as a second skin (if that makes sense). I always feel like paper sheet masks slide all around my face and don’t have as much product infused in the mask. Not only does this face mask stay put, but all of their face masks feel amazing on the skin. I have repurchased so many times that I think my bank account is giving me dirty looks. Pro tip: Absolutely keep the package and keep the extra serum that’s inside the face mask container to use for the rest of the week as a nightly serum! There will be a lot left over inside the package. Note: I have found that not every Sephora carries this brand in their store. However, they are all available online. I’ve linked my other favorite When masks at the bottom of this post. The only one I haven’t tried is Travel Mate, so I can’t speak for that mask, but all the others are life-changing.

Glam Glow Super Mud Clearing Treatment

2. Glam Glow Super Mud Clearing Treatment

For breakouts and oiliness; If you are someone with oily skin or who has oil in your t-zone, this will absolutely change your skin. It changed mine! You may have a little tingling at first contact but stay strong and leave it on (trust me). As this dries you can see the color of the mask getting lighter (it starts as a dark grey color) and literally see the spots where you have oil coming to the surface. It completely clears out congestion and oil (without leaving your skin completely parched). I know it’s expensive, but I promise it’s worth it. I’m on my third pot of it!

Tony Moly Aloe Face Mask

3. Tony Moly Aloe Face Mask

For moisturizing and soothing redness; I recently discovered the Tony Moly brand and have been hooked on their face masks. Since my skin is so sensitive, I struggle with redness a lot of the time. Aloe vera is great for hydrating, soothing, and is a natural disinfectant/anti-bacterial. I use this mask when my skin needs some extra soothing. It would be perfect to use after a day of skiing/snowboarding or if you have windburn! This one is only $3! You can’t beat that.

Tony Moly Snail Mask

4. Tony Moly Age Defying Snail Hydro-Gel Face Mask

For dehydrated skin that may have fine lines; Okay, I know this sounds disgusting, but you guys can now get a sense of the lengths I go to in order to get great skin. This is another gel face mask that feels incredible on the skin. If you’re worried about any weird smells from snail goo, it doesn’t smell bad! This mask “contains an intense essence extracted from snail mucin.” While there’s no way of us knowing exactly how much snail mucous this contains, “snail secretion filtrate” is the fourth ingredient, so I think we can rest assured that it’s a smaller amount. Filtrate also means that it has been filtered, so no need to be terrified! If the thought of putting this on your skin is still terrifying, let me just tell you that it delivers in the results department! It’s perfect for those looking for a hydrating, anti-aging treatment!

Dr. Jart Water Replenishment Mask

5.Dr. Jart+ Water Replenishment Cotton Sheet Mask

By now you can probably tell I love sheet masks, and this one is no exception. This mask is great for all skin types, especially sensitive. It contains witch hazel and allantoin which keep your skin moisturized and feeling refreshed!
